What Is Day-Use Booking and Why Does It Work?

Explains the day-use booking model and why hotels offer hourly rates

Updated July 3, 2026

The Day-Use Model

hotelSlots lets you book hotel rooms by the hour during the day. Hotels have rooms sitting empty between the morning check-out and evening check-in. These rooms generate zero revenue. hotelSlots gives hotels a way to sell those empty hours, and gives you access to rooms at a fraction of the overnight rate.

Why Hotels Offer Day-Use Rates

An empty room during the day is lost revenue. Hotels would rather sell a few hours at a discounted rate than let the room sit unused. Day-use bookings also drive ancillary revenue — food and beverage, spa, parking — that benefits the hotel.

Typical Savings

Day-use rates are typically 40-60% lower than overnight rates because the hotel can still sell the room for the night. You only pay for the hours you need.
